When Gracie finds the body of fellow classmate Jamie Marks by the river, cross-country star Adam becomes fascinated with the boy nobody interacted with, except to occasionally bully him. When Jamie's ghost begins to appear both to Adam and Gracie, Adam is caught between two worlds: his budding romance with Gracie, and his new deep connection to Jamie, who brings him closer to the world of the undead.
